She has been friends and writing partners since college with Eileen Heisler when they were assigned to the same dorm at Indiana University. After two years, they both independently transferred to New York University where they each earned bachelor of fine arts degrees in film and television from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts.She has two daughters, Kate (born 1999) and Emery (born 2000), with husband Bruce Bolkin who is President of Valley Business Printers.DeAnn was born in Muncie, IN, but grew up in the Cincinnati suburb of West Chester, Ohio. (Her parents were from Muncie and went to college at Ball State University there.).
